Hens & bucks ideas abroad

Although the main point of your focus is likely to be your wedding day itself, don't forget to pay attention to the Hen and Buck's nights, as these have the potential for some stories which you'll still be relating in years to come.

Whether your idea of a good time is some thing fairly quiet and small, or you prefer to go out with a big bang, your party needs to be something that everyone feels comfortable with.

Traditionally it's the job of the bestman to organise the final night of freedom for the groom and it's usually the task of the chief bridesmaid to organise the hen night. However, it's not uncommon for the bride to organise her own hen night.

If you're planning a destination wedding and you're holding the hen and buck nights abroad, then chances are that the numbers are likely to be limited. If this is the case, there's no reason why just a handful of you can't still have a ball, although it is becoming increasingly popular for both the hen and buck nights to be merged together.

Buck ideas don't have to consist solely of alcohol, and if you're in another country then it's a great opportunity for do something a little out of the ordinary that you probably wouldn't do in your own country. For example, in Thailand a buck weekend could consist of Thai kickboxing, an Elephant jungle trek, followed by 18 holes of golf, all washed down with a Bangkok bar crawl. Or if you're in Bali how about a day spent on a luxury yacht where you can enjoy great food, plenty to drink, and some fishing and swimming before getting back to dry land and hitting the town. If you prefer, you could try out some day time activities like Go karting, surfing, paint balling or how about an adrenalin fuelled quad bike safari along the dirt trails of Bali's mountains.
