Get married like a celebrity!

For the majority of us destination weddings mean a relaxed fun day, getting wed in bare feet on the beach. It's also a chance to cut down on the guest list and not have to invite everyone your parents know, people you work with, and your next door neighbours. However, when it comes to celebrity destination weddings, it's often a different picture. Let's face it, we all like to drool over sumptuous celebrity weddings featured in magazines and the tabloids. They're a great source of inspiration and are usually no expense spared, lavish events with plenty of drama, but are not always practical unless you happen to have celebrity status.

However, with the ever growing popularity of destination weddings there's no reason why you can't hook up with the services of an experienced wedding planner and feel just like a princess as you exchange vows in an exotic destination with stunning backdrops to die for.

So just where do celebrities choose to get married?

Well, just recently Justin Timberlake (October 2012) got married to Jessica Biel in Italy. It's fair to say he could have chosen literally anywhere in the globe but opted for romantic Italy which has also been the destination of choice for celebrities like Emily Blunt and John Krasinski as well as Tom Cruise Cruise and Katie Holmes. They held a pre wedding party on the beach with jazz music playing and a dazzling firework display. They reportedly tied the knot in Bernalda, Southern Italy, at the boutique hotel Palazzo Margherita, which has been restored by Francis Coppola to create an authentic and extremely luxurious Italian experience.

Jack Osbourne and his fiance recently exchanged their vows at the Four Seasons in Hualalai on Big Island in Hawaii. To keep it a secret, guests were apparently asked to sign non disclosure agreements and Jack Tweeted that his family was on holiday in Hawaii to celebrate his mother, Sharon Osbourne's 60th birthday. Nestled on the North Kona coastline and with stunning vistas of white sun kissed beached, sparkling blue waters and black lava mountains, what a fabulous setting.

The Bahamas

With a diverse range of quintessential island experiences from pink sands to pineapple plantations, and more than its fair share of cosmopolitan chic, not forgetting gorgeous weather and stunning beaches, it's little wonder that many celebrities choose the Bahamas as a destination in which to get married. Mariah Carey married Nick Cannon in 2008 in the Bahamas and has recently put up her exclusive villa at which she got married, for sale. The property named “Sea Lily” is located on the prestigious Windermere Island and can only be accessed by private helicopter or bridge which is manned by a guard. So if you've got a spare $5.5 million...... Penelope Cruz is another famous star who married Javier Bardem in a low key, small and intimate secret wedding ceremony at a friend's house in the Bahamas back in July 2010.

These are just a handful of celebrity destination weddings, but with a little imagination and help from a wedding planner who is knowledgeable on your chosen destination, you too can bring the magic alive and enjoy a destination wedding with memories to cherish for a lifetime. The great news is that it doesn't need to cost celebrity prices.
